Something old, something new…
In the past several days, we’ve been visited by some old malware friends, mostly through email, and mostly caught. But, we recently spent a couple “enjoyable” (note tongue planted firmly in cheek) days cleaning up a CryptoWall 3.0 infection.
The old, orginal Cryptolocker has been defanged for a while – but there are always new Crypto variants which have gotten better at escaping detection and defying cleanup.
Website mobile friendly? Google still hates it…
Recently, we shared how Google’s big search algorithm changes would begin to strongly favor “mobile friendly” Websites – and conversely, punish the non-mobile friendly sites. If you missed that, check out “Why Google is about to bury your Website”.
But for many businesses with a local focus, getting their Websites mobile-friendly isn’t enough.
Your Immediate Attention is Requested
Isn’t it great when you get an envelope like that in the mail? Usually the “immediate attention” has more to do with importance to the sender than to you as the recipient. It’s junk mail, for the most part. Insurance offers. Investment opportunities.

The hints are about to become fact – and in a big way.
Five Things To Do Before Calling For Help…
“Wow, that only took you guys about five minutes” says the slightly amazed client, right after we spent about four minutes solving their problem. Now, we like talking with our clients, but generally when we get a call, it’s not to chat about the weather or the ballgame.
Low-tech ways to protect your business
Pop quiz: what’s a simple thing you can do to improve your business’ IT security? Update your antivirus software? Use secure passwords? Here’s one that many small- and medium-sized businesses rarely think about: enhance your physical security.
While often an afterthought, physical IT security is no small matter.
My Cat Wrote This Column…
…or at least, he tried to, last year. This is an updated article from last February’s newsletter. Given that the weather is similar (sadly), the cat is still “helping,” and it contained some useful tips, I’m sharing it again.
Our cats are normally outdoors, in the barn or garage during the winter.
